  I went in for a minor complication of wisdom teeth removal, that (after the fact) 2 other oral surgeons agreed to do for free. The total bill was close to $1k for mere removal of a tooth stub with tweezers (I could have done this myself). At first I was told that the bill would be entirely covered by insurance. Then twice during the appointment they told me that there would be increasingly more out of pocket costs. I ended up paying quite a bit of money for this, but then it gets worse. About a year later I check my credit report and trace down the orgin of a collections claim in my name. I find out they "discovered" yet again that insurance would cover even less and they needed even more out of pocket funds from me. They didn't bother calling me or contacting me in any way but took me to collections for less than $50 (which turned into triple when it was said and done). So my credit was being destroyed and I had no idea, it was because of this shady place that has some pretty mysterious accounting practices. This whole experience itself was super sketchy too. It's on the third floor of an office building, is dimly lit, the surgeon came in late himself, and the assistance appeared clueless. At the time it didn't matter because all I wanted was the tooth chip out and some percocet to ease the pain, but in hindsight all the warning signs of "shady doctor" were there. Also: ALL THE ONLINE REVIEWS OF THIS ARE ONES THAT THEY COAX OUT OF PATIENTS AT THE TIME OF SERVICE! THEY ARE POSTED BY THE DOCTOR HIMSELF AND ARE NOT LEGITIMATE VOLUNTARY REVIEWS FROM PATIENTS.
